The structure of the GFKL Group is based on flat hierarchies and short ways of decisions. Characteristic for our company culture is the sense of responsibility of our employees and their flexibility and enthusiasm dealing with complex tasks.
Executive Board
Dr. Peter Jänsch (CEO)
Graduate in Business Management, MBA (GB)
After completing his studies in business administration, Dr. Jänsch earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Bradford University, England, and received his doctorate in economics at the University of Brunswick, Germany.
Dr. Peter Jänsch was co-founder of GFKL in 1992 and, since then, has widely shaped the Company’s development. With the transformation of the Company into a stock corporation, Dr. Jänsch was appointed chairman of the Executive Board of GFKL Financial Services AG in 1997.

Jürgen Baltes
Graduate in Business Management
Jürgen Baltes acquired a degree in economics at Cologne University and, after having been employed at the Axa Group for three years, moved to Gothaer Group in 1984. Group-wide responsibility for human resources was assigned to Jürgen Baltes, followed by appointments as chief information officer and general executive for business administration and IT infrastructure. From 1996 to 2000, Jürgen Baltes has been member of the Executive Board of Gothaer Credit Versicherung AG. There, he took over responsibility for the entire private client business. From 2000 to 2006 Jürgen Baltes has been Executive Board member of ABIT AG, being in succession spokesman of the Executive Board, sole member of the Executive Board and chairman of the Board.
In October 2005, Jürgen Baltes was appointed member of the Executive Board of GFKL. At GFKL, he is responsible for the sectors Software and Collection (non-banking clients) as well as for human resources and cost management.
Dr. Till Ergenzinger
Graduate in Business Management
After completing his apprenticeship with Dresdner Bank AG Dr. Till Ergenzinger studied business administration at the University of Münster. Besides his assistant activity at the Bankseminar of Prof. Büschgen at the University of Cologne, he received his doctorate for a thesis about leasing.
After six years as a management consultant, his last position being at A.T. Kearney, Dr. Ergenzinger joined GFKL in 2002 and took over responsibility for finance and treasury. On 07-Feb-2003, Dr. Ergenzinger was appointed member of the Executive Board.
As a member of the executive board, he is responsible for Finance/Treasury, Accounting/Taxes, Controlling/Risk Management, Corporate Governance/Compliance and Organization/Service Center.

Dr. Tom Haverkamp
Graduate in Computer Science Chartered Financial Analyst
After studying Computer Science at the Technische Universität in Munich, Dr. Tom Haverkamp obtained his doctorate degree at the Swiss Institute of Banking and Finance at Hochschule St. Gallen. Dr. Haverkamp is a qualified Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and member of the CFA Institute.
Following an employment at the consultancy division of Arthur Andersen and managing the Equities business for the J.P. Morgan’s Asset Management division in Frankfurt, he joined the Executive Board of GFKL Financial Services AG in 1998, where he is responsible for the Collection (banking) and Systems sectors as well as for the group-wide function of It infrastructure, It development, internal audit and data protection.
Supervisory Board
Georg Friedrich Thoma (Chairman)
Georg F. Thoma is Managing Partner Germany and Global Co-Managing Partner of Shearman & Sterling. Mr. Thoma practices primarily in the areas of corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and privatizations. He acts as counsel for German and international industrial corporations, banks and insurance companies as well as investment banks in international and cross-border mergers and acquisitions and other transactions. Mr. Thoma is well-known as one of the top M&A counsels worldwide and has legally advised transactions such as Daimler/Chrysler, Mannesmann/Vodafone und VEBA/VIAG. Mr. Thoma published articles on legal topics in various publications.
Roy Campbell
Roy Campbell works for Goldman Sachs in London as a member of the European Special Situations Group, an investment group within Goldman Sachs. He is a member of the ESSG Investment Committee and is responsible for the origination, acquisition and risk management of performing and non-performing loan portfolios across Europe, with particular focus on the German market. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Roy was with Morgan Stanley working in the Global High Yield/Distressed Debt group and held various roles focusing on corporate distressed principal investments in New York, Tokyo, Hong Kong and London.
Dr. Eckehard Schulz
Dr. Eckehard Schulz has been Head of Investment Management at ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG since 2005. In this function he is responsible for participation financing and the development of asset programmes and structured financing. The ERGO Group and its established brands is one of the leading providers in Germany and Europe in nearly every insurance segment. ERGO's investment portfolio totalled more than 100 billion euros at the end of 2006. Dr. Schulz had earlier worked for five years in the Property division of the ERGO group and lastly as department head with responsibility for cooperation and strategic investments in the area of international property funds.
Mike Jarred
In the years 2001 to 2004, Mike Jarred was as a Corporate Managing Director with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. as well as a member of the Financial Institutions Management Committee. During this period, Mike was Global Head of Counterparty Coverage and hence responsible for teams in London, Amsterdam, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. Before joining ABN AMRO, Mike worked several years with Barclays Group which gave experience in corporate and investment banking.
Dr. Norbert Emmerich
Dr. Norbert Emmerich was Deputy Chairman of the Board of WestLB AG. Before joining WestLB AG, he was chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Münster.
Dr. Theodor Baums
Prof. Dr. Theodor Baums is Head of the Institute for Bank Law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-University in Frankfurt. Beside of his scientific activities in particular regards corporate and capital markets law, Prof. Baums was an advisor for political institutions such as the World Bank, the German Parliament as well as the German Federal Government. He headed the national commission »Corporate Governance« set in place by the Federal Government. Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Council of BaFin, Advisor on Ethics to the Board of the Deutsche Bundesbank as well as a member of the Advisory Council to the European Commission on Corporate Governance and Corporate law.
